VOLUNTEERING AT QCB!
It Takes a Team to Keep QCB Going! ❤️
Queens County Blades is a 100% volunteer-run skating club—we have no paid positions. Everything it takes to operate the club, from organizing ice and programs to registrations, communication, events, fundraising and all of the behind-the-scenes work, is handled by our Board and volunteers.
We are a very small Board, and some of our volunteers generously give hundreds of hours of their time each year to QCB. We are SO proud of everything our volunteers have built and accomplished over the years, but the more people who get involved, the more we can build on what we have; bringing new ideas, skills and energy to the club and creating more opportunities and great experiences for our skaters.
QCB is a community club, and working together helps us do more for our skaters while also giving us more opportunities to keep costs down as much as possible. We know skating is expensive, and while there are limits to what we can control, volunteering and fundraising are two ways our skating community can help support the club and our skaters.
And helping doesn't have to mean taking on a big commitment. You don't need to be a Board member, know anything about skating, or have a huge amount of time. Sometimes an extra set of hands is all we need to make something happen.
How Can You Help?
There are lots of ways to contribute, whether you have a few hours to spare, can help with a specific event, or have a skill you'd like to share:
- Helping at skating sessions
- Helping with club events, including set-up and take-down
- Volunteering at our WinterSkate competition in January
- Helping with our Christmas show
- Helping with CanSkate
- Organizing or helping with a fundraiser
- Helping with ticket, program or other event sales
- Knowing a local business that may be interested in sponsoring QCB? Let us know!
- Have a skill, talent or area of expertise you can share? We may be able to put it to use; ie. graphic design, photography, social media, bookkeeping, writing, sewing, technology, construction, printing and more.
- Taking on a small behind-the-scenes task that can be done from home
Thank you to everyone who gives their time, energy and support to QCB. We truly couldn't do it without you! ❤️
FUNDRAISING AT QCB
🍂 Our Fall Fundraiser
We will be holding a Fall Fundraiser this season to help offset rising ice costs and keep registration fees as affordable as possible.
We would love to see strong participation from our skating families! Fundraising helps support the costs of running QCB and our programs, while giving us more opportunities to put money back into the club and our skaters. Our long-term goal is to find more ways to help keep the cost of skating as manageable as possible for our families.
More details coming soon!
This fundraiser applies to QCB members participating in our regular club programs and is not applicable to members of other clubs. Families are welcome to participate in the fundraiser or, if selling isn't for you, choose a small buy-out fee instead.
Thanks for helping support QCB and our skaters! ❤️
